I have a copy of that photograph that I got from the colorado Railroad Museum. The opinion of most who have seen it is that it shows 60 being moved back to the C&S after a trip through the new CB&Q steam locmotive shops in Denver. A thrid rail (narrow gauge) connection did not exist betwen the C&S and the CB&Q shops, hence the trip across Denver on the CB&Q flatcar.
Als, keep in mind that when 60 was donated to Idaho Springs (1941) the track still existed up the canyon. The donation date lised in most books (May 1941) predates the removal of the track through Idaho Springs and most sources state that 60 was moved on its own wheels to Idaho Springs and literally left behind as the track was torn out.
