Re: San Juan C-16 Kits

John Parker's C-16 project is close to completion , with April beinmg the target for release .John has developed a phenomenal new drive ,that is as smooth as a servo mechanism .It has the gearbox and and motor in one assembly . He is a master die cutter (who has done the dies for other plastic kits ,like PBL).John keeps his costs down by doing nearly all of the work himself in his house at Rockwood .He told me that there will eventually be several different versions .#278 will be the first. Since Bachmann has no fine-scale 2-8-0s to compete, I doubt that line of models will hurt John's efforts. Bachmann's line is a great introduction to narrow gauge modelling . If you have been in the hobby for awhile ,you would want to get amodel like the San Jaun C-16 .Though I am in Sn3 , I will probably aquire one of John's kits .
