I shot the Heisler 91 doubleheading with Hillcrest #10 at Mt. Rainier in the spring of 1992. This train ran all the way from Elbe to Morton and return. 10 led the train, and was doing more than 10 mph most of the time, but was shaking pretty much the whole way. They asked me if I wanted to ride the cab but I didn't want to give up shots on the grade near Mineral which turned out to be the best of the day.
We recently converted this to DVD and it was just released. We also did a nice background bit on each engine, and a short cab ride in the Heisler, plus a run-over shot in the drop-pit with the Climax which was a bit scary to this photag, but made a really neat video as you can see the grease on the main gear under the engine and such as it rolled over me. Climax is a neat geared engine, especially with the slanted side-ride on each side. Both engines made a neat doubleheader, which was first time it had been done in 1992.
