Thanks for providing data that would seem to confirm my recollection, Brian. I don't recall the original source that told me about the x0 series of Oahu engines and the K-28s, but I know the source was authoritative enough (and the evidence sufficiently persuasive) that I've never questioned the assertion since.
One other note on the Oahu. Their 3x series 2-8-0s were pretty good-sized, very possibly in the C-21 range. These engines later went on to service in El Salvador (and I understand at least one or two of them still survive there.) While I don't have the time to recheck, I believe others familiar with El Salvadoran RRs posted their salient specs in this or another list some months ago.
