Oil distribution on the NG

I am curious as to how oil and oil products were distributed to the small distributors and how often they recieved shipments. I am assuming oil drums (oil & lubricants) which were considered small quanities were sent in box cars as LCL and oil in large quanities (tankers). Was the oil pumped from the tank cars into the above ground tanks. How often did these small distributors recieve shipments such as Ouray and Telluride. Were mines the largest users of lubricants?.
