Mike, with regard to #9 being all dressed up for the Chicago RR Fairk it appears that #9 might have been fitted with the headlight off C&S #58 which had just been scrapped in April of the same year.
#58 and #73 are the only engines I am familar with that had the number boards set high on the headlight housing.
We do not as yet have the measured diameter of the headlight now in place on #9 in Silver Plume.
