Mike: With all due respect, your information on the number board placement on C&S #9 is incorrect.
I have just finished reviewing about 30 photographs of C&S #9 and in all cases the headlight number boards were placed on dead center with the center of the headlight bulb and socket. My photos were from 1929 to end of service. In addition, the edging around the number board moveable wings, appear to be identical to the images of #9 at Silver Plume.
As a comtom builder of C&S engines in 1/4" scale I have done extensive research of apparatus on C&S NG engines. I am unsure of the headlight diameter, but from all outward appearences it seems the headlight on #9 at Silver Plume is identical to the original photographs.
Respectfully,
Richard Boulware - Denver.
