I rode behind that little charmer at Travel Town in the early 50's. They had about a quarter mile of track laid south of the main exhibits, down to where the LA Live Steamers are now. They hauled the open coaches on an out and back operation for several years there. I was about 6 or 7 at the time and was mesmerized by the little engine and open cars with their cane seats. The fact that they were open probably led to their demise.
I'm really glad to hear that 85 is being restored. Just might get me on a plane to Hawaii! Of course I'd have to tell the wife that it's for the romantic vacation in the isles. Hey! What's more romantic than a steam whistle?
