8- cylinders of 5 3/4"Blre x 8"Stroke, with 2-cylinder opposed gasoline engine built into manin Diesel for Starting.
6-Volt Generator and 6-Volt Exide Battery with 2-Sunbeam electic Headlithts; 35-Gal. capacity Cooling-System with 8 blade 27"diam. Fan; Four speed Forward & Reverse transmission with side rods coupling between drivers.
Axles 6 1/2"diam. of Forged High-Carbon Steel with Bronze Railway type Journal Boxes. Westinghouse straight and automatic Air Brakes schedule EL-14 with 22.75 Cu.Ft. compressor and hand Brake; Tower automatic couplers.
Main Frame of rolled steel slabs 4"thick, with bumpers at eazach end of 6"thick rolled steel slabs.
Sheet metal Cab and sheet metal hood over engine.
Air Whistle and 10"Bronze Bell. Heater in Cab.
Cost incurred $13,885.05.
This engine of course became DRGW 50 after retirement from the SVRy at the end of the year 1961. I think the last scheduled car movement with the 101 on the SVRy was about Nov. 29th 1961 give or take a day or two.
