I suggest that you get a h0old of the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Historic Structures
Preservation Projects.
I use the one for Historic Vessels all the time.
That booklet will give you some good ideas. I would also say that whatever you do, be sure to document it on paper and in pictures.
Is there a passenger car among the work fleet that you can bring back to life?
