Re: Stuhr F&CC coach any rebuild

After working on 315 for 6 years we learned a lot. when we first started the project we THOUGHT we could reuse some of the parts, after long hard look at the tender we deceided NEW was the way to go. The center sill on the tender is 10" X 10" 21' or so long, this had 3 splices in it were repais had been done, intermediate sill were same shape but the side sills had been patched with steel plates 4' on either side at the front there wasn't hardly a trace that wood had ever been there, so we built a whole new frame only using the trucks and some of the hardware. Safety is an issue with use because we intend to operate the locomotive after it is finished.
