Thanks Mr. Coker for continued interest. There may have been several different operations at Dulce at that time so the following record may not mean that was the end of all lumber operations at Dulce and maybe there were two small railroads under separate management. Sometimes the hear-say is very useful for further research.
American Lumberman Nov. 17, 1928: "Buss Changes: Dulce: Plant of Pagosa Spring Lumber Co. [?Pagosa Lumber Co., maybe not a typo.] sold to Bernstein Brothers Iron & Metal Co. of Pueblo, CO, who will wreck and sell materials. Sale includes five locomotives, 28 box cars [? log], railroad track, saw mill mach., and 15 buildings, erected to house workers." The number of five for locomotives is quite useful. As I said there still may have been another engine there and a later operation but that is speculation. I find no records after that date.
I wonder what the index in the Court House at Tierra Amarilla tell us for clues or answers?
