COLORADO DAY & #9

July 31, 2006 03:22PM
To echo what Steve Torrico said, tomorrow is going to be a heck of a day on the Georgetown Loop as C&S # 9 officially goes in to service.
A word of warning to brother rail history buffs.
SILVER PLUME is going to be a ZOO. Plan on parking two miles away. Heavy media coverage is anticipated with CH.2 (WB2) is supposed to start "Live" segments at 6:00 AM for their morning show, and Ch.4 and Ch.7, and Ch.31 are anticipated to be there in force. Ch.4 is also shooting a long segment for their program 'Colorado Getaways'!
If you'd still like to be there for the big event, a word of advice. Park in Georgetown and get a RT ticket to Silver Plume...and back to GT.
On your first leg westbound, you'll hear beautiful little # 9 blasting your guts out as she tackles the grade to Silver Plume, and her whistle will raise the hair on the back of your neck...as well as blasting birds out of trees.
Thanks to Steve, Dan, Jason and the other fine people at RailStar, tomorrow is going to be a glorious day for Colorado rail history, and the Georgetown Loop.
Transfer C&S # 9 to Breckenridge? Naw...don't think so. (Certainly hope not). (:-) "Bo"
