El Coke,
Actually the locomotive is not from the VT&S, it is a former UVCC engine (United Verde Copper Company). Also, there are two of them, numbers 86 and 87. Both are the same type as used on the VT&S. They were sold to the Western Pacfic in 1953 when the mines shut down and the smelter closed. One is on display at the state fair grounds in Pleasonton, Californa. The other is in Orville, Calforna. The VT&S ran from Clarkdale to Hopewell and then up two switchbacks to Jerome. Both sections were up 4% grades! Sure wish I could've seen the two mallets running up that grade, the stack talk must've been awesome!
