Re: Railfanning the D&SNG

Someone asked: $1,000!?!?! This seems WAY too much to be charging for a cab ride! Even $500 for a ride in a motor car seems pretty steep. $500 for a ride in an engine would seem a little more reasonable... Don't You think?
It would be more reasonable, but I don't think the D&SNG could accomodate everyone who would be willing to pay $500. On two-train days, they only have four cab seats to sell (two going up and two coming down).
A round trip on the Silver Vista costs a minimum of $119 while a round trip on the Cinco Animas costs a minimum of $129. If you go on the Cinco Animas with a boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse, then you're up to $258... and up to $516 if you take all three with you! These figures don't include tipping the attendant, buying "adult beverages", nor the cost of whatever food and souveniors you might buy onboard.
Anyway, I don't have a $1,000 to burn either.
