How he got that number....

El Coke, the percentage is easy to figure out, but first the scales:
HO = 1/87.5
S = 1/64
O = 1/48
In other words, there are 48 scale fee to an actual foot in O scale. So to figure out how much to reduce the O drawings to get HO, divide 48 by 87.5, which is equal to 55%; or 48/64 = 75%. Conversely, to go from HO to S, 87.5/64 = 137%.
