this was later in the day (guess we were haulin block)up by the tunnel portal retaining wall we were replacing, on the rulling 2.2 grade. the load consisted of five 6500 flats with five 85 pound keystone blocks on three cars, and six on two cars we probably should have run the flats with brakes but the engin is without front air line so we had to run the "runaway" cars. in order to park them on the hill you had to use an emergencey set on the engin (aka the tender) and leave her in the corner with cilinder cocks open and throttle featherd out (uphill shove operation)this worked but tended to make the cylinders run dry and use a lot of water. it also made unloading a little scary because once you had enough load off she would creep away if you turnd your back. thank god she never ran off!
