It depends on who you talk to on when and if the 482 actually ever had a green boiler jacket. If she did it probably would have been in the mid to late 30's. There is a famous shot of the 498 in the late 30's on the trestle at Mears Jct--it's a black and white shot but it definitely looks as if it has a green boiler jacket when compared to the steam and sand domes--was it really--not sure but very probable. There may be someone out there on this list who has seen or can produce a picture of the 482 in green. One thing I've learned is that you can never say never when dealing with the narrow gauge. Although it appears that there are ton's of pictures of the narrow gauge it seems that it's only a small percentage when compared overall picture of day to day operations and what actually was represented. I would love to see a picture of the 482 in a green jacket back in the 30's, kind of gets back to the age old debate whether the caboose handrails were painted white or silver.
