Yep, that was classic!
Was that the same day you almost fell off the cliff perch on Peebles Hill awaiting 611's assault?
Almost as bad as me shooting 611 one-way trip from Cincinnati to Birmingham with the audio switch off on the record deck, back in the day of the 3/4 inch video and separate camera, with connecting cords. Nobody is immune from boo boos!
I remember Les Jarrett and I were shooting our first "America By Rail" tape, and on the Boone and Scenic Railroad. They ran a special train out to that famous high trestle just for us before the regular train operated in the morning. I was shooting track level, and Les climbed a rather steep hill across a ditch to get the elevated shot. He had just bought a new Betacam SP deck, to use with this 3-chip camera, and when he got to the top, it came tumbling down end over end. All I could think of was (a) There goes $10K down the drain, and (b)there goes the rest of our project(c)here we are in the middle of nowhere.
Luckily the deck still worked, and made it through the rest of the trip. Never let anyone tell you Les is "Easy" on equipment!!!
I shouldn't talk as I have had my problems with camera gear too!
