You are partially correct about the Portland streetcars, SOME were narrow gauge, probably half. In downtown Portland, there was a mixture of standard, narrow and dual gauge trackage. Some of it was also used by the standard gauge inteerurban lines to Oregon City and Gresham. For a time there were also the Southern Pacific and Oregon Electric passenger electrics that ran right through town.
Downtown Portland was a transit mecca at one time.
