To understand what was going on in the twilight years you need to get a “big” picture of what the history prior to the 1950’s was…Now if you want to get into the nitty gritty i.e. exactly who shipped what and where then I highly recommend you get a copy of the below listed publications from the CRRM. These 2 reports (and others available from the CRRM) make great reading material for understanding the accounting side of what the NG did. The reports focus on the NG branch lines and Alamosa – Durango was “mainline” much of the data is still relevant to the questions posed. BTW a green eye shade hat is recommended equipment if you want to really get into this subject matter…
