I think these were originally acquired to help with the tie projects across the railroad. While there are a lot of wooden framed cars, the Friends would prefer they not be used for MOW projects. I don't see the 6500's being used as fodder for future passenger cars as there are already a number of frames in Antonito for that purpose (from more modern ex-std gauge boxcars). Don't know the current status, but I would expect they would stay on the property; this is definitrly a traditional Friends goal.
