Re: Pitkin Branch power?

On the Pitkin branch, generally because of well worn 40# rail, rotten ties & weeds, the D&RG used C-16 2-8-0's for most work and occasionally a T-12 4-6-0 for passenger specials such as the annual picnic of the Western State College.
In June 1932, hearings were held for abandonment with the I.C.C. Permission was granted on July 31, 1933 effective on August 31, 1933. Protestants obtained delays and the line was again authorised to be abandoned on May 8, 1934 effective in 30 days. In mid June, C&S forces commenced scrapping, completing the job on July 31, 1934.
