I remember seeing the flume spout flash by when I was little. By the time I was old enough to appreciate such things and look for them, it was gone. I believe John Nolan told me it disappeared with the 1970 flood. The harp switch stand on the tail of the Elk Park wye disappeared about the same time. I had seen the footings for Kendall Creek tank, but thought nothing of it until Rich Millard pointed them out to me one day.
On a totally unrelated subject, there was a big rock slide in the canyon at MP 489 in 1952 that dammed the river and submerged the track requiring a sizable shoofly. The shoofly stayed in service until the early 60's when the DRGW finally had the slide rmoved and the river returned to its normal level. Nobody seems to know axactly where it was. You'd think there would have been roadbed visible, etc. Uncle Bob Richardson used to call it "Coleman Lake" after the then Supt (and notable Perlman henchman).
Anybody have any ideas?
