The fake spout on the Durango tank was indeed built for the movie “Denver & Rio Grande”. They did not use the real side because they didn’t want the town in the background and needed a little more open space. The scene were this is used is very clear and unmistakable. This is when the Canyon City & San Juan crews (the bad guys) steal a train and headed out on the line to raise trouble. Of course, in the movie, the train headed south from the tank, not north were most of the filming took place. But who cares. It's just a movie. A good movie that needs to be watched again. Well, there goes my afternoon.
