Taylor,
After reading through Vic Stones book seems like all the newer (5500 series cars) built by AC&F in 1903 - 1904 were black only red cars were what remained of the original 452 stock cars built 1873 -1882 and very few made it past 1916 these cars #5001 to 5452 were mostly 8 to 10 ton cars various lengths and mismatched wheel sizes 20" to 24" and not suitable for rebuilding.
As I get some time I'll try and get some more info.
