I do not believe so. The locomotive matches the design that GE sold to foreign 3' gauge operations.
The locomotive was not numbered "X-1." Its number was 1. Following SP practice to display train number (or other identifier) the locomotive displayed "X-1" to indicate that it was locomotive 1 operating as an extra train.
