Books on the IRCA

February 25, 2006 10:45AM
There is a book in the works being writting by John Kirchner and Dave Braun. But like so many books in the works, who knows when it will actually get to a printer.
An existing book is "Development of Railroads in Guatemala and El Salvador, 1849-1929" by Delmer G. Ross. As the title suggests it is a very academic and I would opine a poorly written book. I found my copy via Amazon.
Another history source is an article by Gerald Best in the Bulletin No. 104 (April 1961) of the Railway and Locomotive Historical Society. That article has, in addition to some short historical narratives, what is generally considered the definitive roster of IRCA locomotives.
I have compiled a "brief history" from material that I have (primarily the annual reports) and would be happy to email it to anyone interested (it is a nine page Word document).
