To all SVRy members, crew and friends of SVRy,
An effort is underway to complete a Form 4 on #19. With completion of this form we can continue to operate 19 for apprx. 10 years before retubing, based on time used since rebuild. Without this form, completion and submittal we can get two time extensions, but will have to retube in 2002.
Yes, this is last minute, and this is unfortunate. But with volunteer assistance Ron, Scott and Jerry believe we can complete the form and submit it in time. The deadline for certification is January 18, 2001.
WE URGENTLY NEED YOUR HELP. It's exciting and fun to operate the train and the lokie. Now is your chance to do work to keep 19 running for several years. We need help on any weekend and during the week. What is Form 4? My understanding is that this form documents dimensions of boiler structural members, dry pipe and thickness of the boiler barrel. Ultrasound Technology (UT) will be used to determine thickness and therefore the outer jacket and insulating blanket will have to be removed on the barrel and backhead and replaced afterward before we can operate next season.
Some good news to report. #3's work is progressing well, and with help on it we can be operational in time for the opening of next season.
A lot of work to be done. Pls do what you can to help.
