The restoration is fantastic! Of course, when a restoration is "complete" it begs the question, "How much is too much and when does a 'complete restoration' cross the line to a reproduction?"
It could be argued that, if the roof, trucks and some miscellaneous fixtures authenticate the restoration then could the complete body that was discarded be used by someone else to "authenticate" another restoration using different trucks and a roof?
What is the generally accepted minimal standard for authentication where restoration of railroad cars is concerned? IS there an accepted minimum standard?
Personally, if you had the complete car and discard the old wood after making every precaution and after painstaking research to duplicate what needs to be replaced, then I say you have done a restoration (and a darned good one at that!)
