The #44 resides at the Colorado Railroad Museum, albiet in many pieces. The #44's boiler is housed at Colorado Boiler Shop in Denver. One might say this is still a good restoration project. Much work has already gone into this locomotive, but it has a long way to go. One might say it has been placed on the far back burner for now.
