Re: Sundance Publications

From what I understand, the wonderful and all consuming Union Pacific Railroad and their legal eagles are making calendar producers pay for every image they use of any UP or predecessor road's equipment, logos, etc.
Herb, I don't think this is quite the case. UP is suing Nils Huxtable and "Steamscenes Publications" for putting out a Calendar called "Union Pacific Steam" and another titled "Southern Pacific Steam", but not because they feature images of UP equipment. The issue is that UP contends they're labeled as if they were official UP publications.
You can find more info here as well as other places on the web.
IIRC, someone here posted info a while back on Sundance which indicated their printer had "gone digital", they could no longer deal with them and were thus exiting the calendar business. I'm sure I've got this at least partially twisted, but I don't think it has anything to do with the litiginous UP. At least not at this time.
Hope everyone's having a great Christmas Day.
