No training, and I had just started taking pictures a few months earlier with SP steam in the Bay Area before this. I do recall that I didn't like the traditional 3/4 view of approaching trains, and that there is so much more than locomotives as seen from the front. I still like unconventional shots, and once in a while, like this afternoon in Barstow, Calif., I just like to watch the trains roll by without taking pictures.
