John,
I can answer some of your questions. The last time I checked (last summer?) the mill was still standing. It has a Purina checkerboard pattern painted along the wall at the top and says "WEST SLOPE AG CENTER".
There is a brick warehouse just north of the mill which has an unloading platform parallel to the tracks. The sign painted on the front says "ONIONS~BEANS.
The depot is still there, serving as a museum as you mentioned. The last time I visited they had the wonderful old original D&RGW sign for Curecanti. It was leaning up against a fence outside, rotting away. Sad.
The Texaco facility is still there as well. It's kept clean and well painted.
The Montrose Local still runs out of Grand Junction every Friday, usually with an aging Rio Grande GP-40 on its point.
Regards,
Matt Hutson
