Far West narrow gauge

November 28, 2005 12:55PM
The OETM has a big collection of equipment in three gauges. The Kimball collection is in a steel building, and the friendly museum members will open it on request. The Carson and Colorado's business car "Esmeralda" is outside (no trucks) and is very good shape. Inside is SPng coach #7 as well as some other Spng cars given up by Traveltown as they fell apart. The EMma Nevada is gogeous, and has an odd automatic firebox th has doors that retract like eyelids. Outside is stasndard gauge steam, 42" gauge LA ry. cars (I rode them as a kid),as well as Pacific Electric and other rare traction stuff. Give yourself at least half a day to look it all over and check the web site for when they have a steam-up. All in all, a fascinating museum.
