Be careful here, we need a 31 rule book to be sure but in the old days a train lost its timetable rights after 12 hours and would become an extra at that point in time and the dispatcher would have to get new orders to it. The train that fell down on its schedule would have to post flagmen to warn other trains it was not in the clear. As u can c by the post in 1971 they amended the rules to make it eaisier and let them keep there right till they got to an open station. It looks like to me in 65 and before u couldn't do that. Interesting indeed.
