Well sorry to burst anyone's hopes of a new three foot steam operation. The East Tigard & Southern RR Co. is a fictional railroad dreamed up by myself. Here is the scoop on the railroad. The ET&S was founded in 1881 to run from Ryde Pa. north to the coal fields around East Tigard Pa. a total of 66 miles. The town of Ryde is a few miles to the east of Mount Union on the Pennsy RR. The railroad also had two braches that ran to other coal mines which were built at later dates. The railroads major financer was the Pennsylvania Coal Co. who owned most of the coal fields around East Tigard. It was chosen to make the railroad three foot based on the resent success of the East Broad Top RR just to the west. The railroad started life with two 4-4-0s built by Brooks. The railroad was a common carrier handling everything from coal to chickens and passengers to mail. The railroad enjoyed many good years until a decline in the 1930s then a short revival in the 1940s only to make a rapid decline and closer in 1958. I will post the all time roster on the next post. Altogether the ET&S had 22 steam locomotives and three desels. Their #s went 1-10 and 14-29. I'm working on writing up the history of the line and then will move on to stories. This is what happens when a 17 year old who is really bored and likes trains uses his imagination. If you have anymore questions about my railroad feel free to ask.
