Hi - most of my info is second hand, however I believe the 12 is still owned by the Bishop Museum and on loan to and displayed at the Hawaiian Railway Society Museum in Ewa on Oahu. There are a number of other steamers (4) on display there also, including OR&L #6 (1st engine on the OR&L). They also have the WACo6 (shop built in Hawaii) there and it last operated in the early 1970s, I suspect if a locomotive was to be returned to steam that WACo 6 would be selected first. Of course manpower and dollars could change things. There are only 3 remaining OR&L steamers - the #6 and 12 at EWA, and #85 which is currently taken apart in an aborted restoration project on the LK&P over on Maui... I also believe WACo6 is in line for some cosmetic work soon.
