In answer to the replys. I know the city of Durango has a problem, But getting rid of the RR would break the chain of prosperity that was the foundation you have built over the years. By that meaning you have skiers in the winter the RR is not running as much taking up the slack of tourism. Plus the RR and the scenic trails, Jeep rides to the ghost towns well the train and this tours work hand in hand these tourists are history buffs like myself. Also if the RR would be banished what happens to Silverton which depends on the train for tourism, Again the jeep rides, hiking biking etc, etc coincide with it all. Just hate to see history like the DSRR which not only brings tourism from the US but in many countries arround the world. I hope you all can come to an agreement and live on and prosper. The reason why I say this because in my area a rmote part of New York they did the same thing and business died, now they have a grant to bring the old railroad back to the area which will bring back not only the history but business back. They now have part of it restored and business is coming back. Just asking to to think hard before giving up this part of history.
