The museum group at Laws (Bishop Museum & Historical Society) has done an interesting tape on the history of Laws.
Besides having an interview with a woman who grew up in Laws in the 1920s (before LA got the water in valley), it has motion picture footage from about the twenties that shows a train arriving at Laws and another engine running though the yards. And then I believe there are some later views of the narrow gauge. [I seem to have misplaced my copy]
