Not too many weeks back fellow SVRy crew members Jim Grigsby, Mike Wergen and myself hiked down grade from the Alder Springs (Styx) trestle site to the McCoy water tower site. This water tower was actually quite aways above McCoy siding. The concrete dam is about 4' high and 60 or so feet across, but no longer impounds any water as the creek has washed around the end of it. There were remnants of the wire wound wood pipeline that took the water from the dam to the tower. At the tower a steel pipe that must have coupled in some way to the wood line still sticks up out of the ground amongst the piers for the water tower posts. There is no other debris from the water tower as at Carrol and Boulder Gorge. Presumably the structure was salvaged. I think however that it may have seen use till the later days. I have a couple time tables at home in the late 30's and I am pretty sure they list McCoy as a water source.
