Also, the Johnson's trestle was replaced with a fill. It is near milepost 32. I may be able to come up with a date. It was on the east side of Larch whereas Alder Springs trestle was on the west side. Today, there isn't much left of the trestle. There are mudsills and a few timbers along with a bit of hardware. I understand the trestle was torn down for salvage. Alder Springs trestle apparently was originally call Styx and is about milepost 38. Alder Springs was actually about milepost 37 and had a passing siding and ph. booth as well as being a location where an OLC logging line took off. A forest service road goes down what was the mainline at this location, but the passing siding still has ties on it. I wonder if the old timers actually called this trestle Alder Springs or if that is a name given it by us later day folks? The train orders I have often are to change meets between east and west bounds trains from McCoy siding to Alder Springs, or the other way around.
