Dan Ranger (you guys in Chama have probably never heard of him, right?) was researching the line and wrote an article for the Western Railroader in Vol 48, issue 518, March 1985.
The remains of the right of way can be seen from Interstate 5, between Patterson and Los Banos on the West side of the Freeway. I have gotten off the freeway, found the local road and followed it up the canyon for several miles. West of the freway the right of way can be found, to the east it has been well plowed under. Generally the line ran South West from Patterson, then turned West up a canyon to the mines.
As noted by Brian they purchased some cars (both box and flatcars) from the NWP.
