The article concerning the derailment in the Clear Creek Courant quoted Ron Trottier as saying, "It was caused by worn ties and track being out-of-gauge". Can't buy that. Railstar themselves did a lot of "re-gauging" on curves prior to opening the season. Whether they did that particular place, I don't know, but if they fooled with the gauging there, it may be their own doing. It's also known that the 21 waddles and sways when it's run too fast--just like pulling a back-heavy (not enough tongue weight) trailer with a car. With 44 tons on those 2 closely spaced axels, it's asking for trouble. GLRRR,Inc ran THOUSANDS of trips over that High Fill Curve over the last 30 years with no incident there. They also kept the roadbed in fine condition.
