On Sunday, July 24, after a ten-year absence, the Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad of Los Gatos, California will be celebrating the return of steam. A special ceremony commemorating the centennial of the 2-Spot and thirty-five years of railroading in Oak Meadow Park will be held. Train rides will begin at 12:00 PM and run all day.
The historic #2 was originally designed by John J. Coit and built by the Johnson Machine Works of Los Angeles, Ca. in 1905. The #2 originally saw service on the Venice Miniature Railway of Venice, Ca. The V.M.R. was an 18" gauge street railway that had common carrier status.
