I ran (and am planning on running a second for the last issue) a VMR Centennial article for the 'On Track' site, much of the information in which came from the articles Phil mentioned or from Phil himself. I was a volunteer at the BJWRR for awhile, though unfortunately at a time when steam was not running (though waiting for that time to come).
As for the 3rd engine (Eastlake Park #1903), the BJWRR does now own it outright. For 25+ years, it was on a somewhat estranged lease from the late Bill Krauss ("Bindlestiff & Brier RR", 2' gauge). The story was apparently a local historian, Bill Wulf, saw the stack in the snow while cross-country skiing. Apparently Krauss had found it abandoned in a field where some sort of amusement park had existed, and by that time, the locomotive had been converted into a steam outline using I believe a Model T engine.
Those who drop by on the 24th, be sure to check out the new diesel switcher being built in-house by volunteer Tom Waterfall. The engine will closely resemble the D&RGW #50. In addition, another diesel locomotive is currently under construction in Wisconsin. It's been probably 4 years since the initial order was placed with a now-defunct company.
