There were quite a few cars on this train, and it was not doubleheaded. There is a breif shot at Antonito(supposedly switching), then a shot looking at the caboose in the distance(headed west toward Cumbres).
Next on the reel was 498 and 495 departing Alamosa on a train. Nice shot, then it is double exposed. Nice pacing and runbys double-exposed over shots of switching the train and servicing the engines at Antonito. I noted 2 or three other chasers at the truss bridge(La Jara I think).
Fortunately the shots are clear that we got across the valley as the train (now with 498 midtrain) works its way along the ledges to Osier. Then we see switching at Osier(work cars set-out or pick-up, can't really tell), then in late afternoon sun they head west.
Also after this was Silverton footage including a fairly large diesel uncoupling from the 476 at Silverton and heading away back toward Durango. Then later 487 on a Rocky Trip Alamosa to Chama then west. Nice shot on Alamosa Turntable and Coaling tower in use before we board the train. More to look at tonight.
As for the 3-track to Alamosa, I doubt that is in the wildess dreams of the folks at the C&TS with many other more important things to work on.
