This is the kind of deal where you need to try to "be in the right place at the right time".
Hop in your hotrod and hit the road for South Dakota...today.
No car, or don't drive? Pack your satchel and grab the first Greyhound bus outa Omaha that goes to Rapid city and then find a way to get to Keystone or where ever the CMO is.
I remember I was 19 when I hired out to the D&RGW..I heard the Road Foreman at Alamosa was squeezed a bit for firemen, and I borrowed my grandad's big Pontiac to drive about 180 miles over there that same day from where I was (Fowler CO.) and see him...it worked out. But if I had diddled around, I wouldn't have been hired at all.
