The line was purchased by Rail American and is run as The San Luis & Rio Grande Railroad, they own fron Walsenburg over to Alamosa, the line to Antonito and the line to South Fork, all but the stretch between Monte Vista and South Fork is in daily use. As to "Steam Friendly" I am not sure just what you mean, they are a freight business and do have some outside passenger runs comming into the valley this summer.
AS far as I know they do not have any plans for either passenger service or Steam.
