The "Rattler" was built for the Lake Tahoe Railway and Transportation Company by John Hammond's California Car Works in 1901.
It ended up as a body in the Truckee area, then saved by Hal Wulmumnder (Sp?) who sold it to the Ashby's.
The LTR&T Co started 2 locomotives and about 40 flats from the Carson & Tahoe Lumber Co, three used passenger cars, and the Rattler and three new boxcars, also built by Hammond. They would soon add a number of used passenger cars and 2 locos from the SPC and more boxcars used from the Tonapah RR.
